With more than sixty years experience, Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) is the strongest and more prestigious institution in Tamaulipas, bulwark of knowledge generation with values.
Its mission is to train highly skilled professionals, implement scientific research that contributes to improve society, as well as preserving and disseminating culture, science and art.
Throughout the state, the institution has twenty-six schools, three languages centers and eleven research centers across eight campuses, as well as seven academic units of continuing education. This allows us to provide education and multidisciplinary services all around the state, becoming the main developer in the region.
UAT is member of the Asociación Nacional de Universidades e Instituciones de Educación Superior y del Consorcio de Universidades Mexicanas, as well as the Asociación Mexicana de Centros para el Desarrollo de Pequeñas Empresas. Besides, it´s certified by the Consejo Nacional de Normalización y Certificación de Competencias Laborales as a certifying organization.
UAT has around forty thousand students; almost thirty-seven thousand correspond to bachelor´s degree, which represents one-third of the bachelor´s students in the state.
Today, 90% of its bachelor´s programs are certified. And fourteen bachelor´s degree programs have international accreditation.
We are the only university with this international accreditations in the country.
We have more than two thousand three hundred teachers; 93.8% with master´s and doctoral degree. More than a third are full-time, and of these, more than half are certified by a development program, belonging to SEP.
Currently, the University has 102 academic bodies, 57% of them are accredited to CONACYT, higher than the national average.
Besides the educational facilities, the University has institutes, research and services centers, libraries, languages centers, excellence centers, stadiums, multidisciplinary gyms, theatres and a huge number of recreational spaces, as well as a complete communications network including internet, telephony, television and broadcasting.
In addition, for coastal system research, the university has a Oceanographic ship, UAT-1 CIDIPORT, first vessel of its kind in the Gulf of México, and for geospatial recognition has a drone and a plane equipped with LIDAR technology and hyperspectral camera, permanently based in Ciudad Victoria airport.
In the actual management, the university intends to promote useful and relevant research, linked to the development requirements in Tamaulipas and México, so it contributes to national progress.
Similarly, it seeks to exercise a responsible and socially sensitive relationship, which strengthen the training of its students, contributes to the study and solution of community problems and increase the participation of the university in local and regional development.
Thus, today Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas has more than one hundred and twenty cooperation agreements with public and private entities; between them, the one with Fundación Educación Superior-Empresa. In coordination with Sistema Estatal para el Desarrollo Integral de la Familia (DIF Tamaulipas) and federal programs, attending more than seventy-five thousand people a year, and with the values program annually benefits more than forty thousand.
In terms of extension and dissemination, more than sixty-four thousand people attend cultural events, which include Festival de la Lectura, Feria Universitaria del Libro and Festival Nacional del Folclor Universitario, besides the concerts offered by the representative groups, including the Symphony Orchestra.
